Hillcrest Cemetery-Ellisville

1:00 p.m.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2022, in the Hillcrest Cemetery of Ellisville, for Mrs. Wanda Nell Atwood Legg, age 76, who passed away peacefully on September 26, 2022, in Hattiesburg, MS.  Rev. Haskell Rhodes will officiate with burial to follow.

Wanda was born in Laurel, MS on September 14, 1945, and was a lifelong area resident. She held a variety of jobs in her lifetime, but she especially loved the time she spent working at Southeast Mississippi Livestock and the many friends she made while there. She enjoyed laughing with her family, especially when she was beating them in a game of cards, and spending time with her beloved dog, BeBe.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Legg; parents, Clifton and Vernell Atwood; brother, Mack Ray Atwood; and sister, Shirley Evans. She is survived by her two brothers, Junior (Debra) Atwood of Ellisville and William Atwood of Ellisville; and sisters, Louise Thrash of Seminary, Brenda (Tom) Walters of Moselle, and Sandra May of Denham Springs, LA.

Many thanks to the doctors and staff at Merit Health Wesley for the compassion and care shown. A special thank you to Dr. Husain who went above and beyond to see that Wanda received the care she needed and also attended to our family's many questions and concerns, doing so with such grace. We will forever be grateful.
