Services for Mrs. Virginia Buckalew, age 83, of Richton, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 21, 2026 at First Baptist Church of Richton.  Mrs. Buckalew passed from this life on September 16, 2026 at her residence.  Bro. Kevin Barnette will officiate the service and burial will follow in Frisco Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers will be Chantse Edwards, Kane Edwards, Parker Thoms, Andrew Roberts, Jeremy Mills, and Joseph Crapanzano.

Mrs. Virginia was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose life was marked by faith, family, and a genuine love for others.

For many years, Virginia worked as a hairdresser in Richton, where she built lasting relationships with those she served. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Richton, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and was actively involved in the church's food ministry. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she found joy in serving others.

Above all, Virginia cherished her family. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and supporting them in whatever activities they were involved in. She was always proud of them and treasured the many memories they made together. Virginia also loved being outdoors, especially when she could spend time fishing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Danny Buckalew; daughter, Regina Pearce; parents, Bill and Sara Smith; sister, Sue Burns; and brother, Johnny Smith.

She is survived by her son, Hugh (Suzanne) Thoms of Richton; daughter, Wendy (Marvin Jr.) Edwards of Richton; son-in-law, Carl Pearce of Richton; and stepson, Dan (Tanya) Bennett of Sumrall; grandchildren, Chantse (Rashae) Edwards, Morgan (Jeremy) Mills, Taylor (Joseph) Crapanzano, Kane (Shana) Edwards, Parker (Erin) Thoms, Lacey (Andrew) Roberts, Maggie Pearce, Erica (Trent) Smith, and Zach (Taylor) Bennett; great-grandchildren, Caroline, Avery, Mary Maesyn, Kyler, Anderson, Stoney, Emberlee, Ryker, Jamison, Kenze, and Aubrey; nieces, Debbie Russell and Ashley Quinn; and nephew, Nathan Mercer.

Virginia will be lovingly remembered for her strong faith, generous heart, love of family, and the joy she found in serving others. Her greatest legacy will be the love she gave so freely to her family and the many lives she touched throughout her years. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by those who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Virginia's memory to Baptist Children's Village or Gideons International.
