Services for Mr. V. R. Broome, age 85, of Richton, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 10, 2026 at Brewer Baptist Church.  Mr. Broome passed from this life on July 7, 2026 in Hattiesburg.  Bro. Jackie Spell and Bro. Justin Stinson will officiate the service and burial will follow in Frisco Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Broome, Carson Manning, Scott Walley, Coen Walley, Dakota Broome, Jason Broome, and Chatom Manning.

Mr. Broome was a faithful member of Loop Road Baptist Church and a devoted Christian whose faith guided his life. He retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding after 40 years of dedicated service as a Pipe Fitter Supervisor. He found his greatest joy in spending time with his children, grandchildren, family, and friends, creating countless cherished memories with those he loved. He also enjoyed planting gardens, caring for his cows, and spending time with his beloved dogs. Mr. Broome will be remembered as a kind, hardworking, and compassionate man whose love for God, his family, and the simple pleasures of life touched everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gaye Broome; son, Jim Broome; grandson, Kenneth Dale Walley; parents, Tillous and Lorena Broome; and several sisters and brothers.

He is survived by his children, Regina (Sherman Dale) Walley of Richton, Kevin (Lisa) Broome of Front Royal, VA; daughter-in-law, Tish Broome of Petal; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; brothers, Billy Broome of Richton and Bobby (Marlene) Broome of Grand Bay, AL; and sisters, Ann (Charles) Clark of Grand Bay, AL, Laura (Lee) Milam of Richton, and Vivian Odom of Richton.
