A memorial service will be held at a later date for Mrs. Teresa Jo Best Mayes, age 66, of Richton.  Mrs. Mayes passed from this life on August 24, 2022 at Forrest General Hospital.

Mrs. Mayes was preceded in death by her father, Jimmie Best, Sr.; mother, JoAnn Ray; stepfather, Bertie Ray; brothers, Johnnie Best and Todd Ray; and son, Michael Mayes.

She is survived by her husband, Charles L. Mayes of Richton; stepmother, Carole Best; children, Melisa (Brian) Murphy of Chattanooga, TN, Christie (Shaun) Grigsby of Lake Ridge, VA, Kelley Smith Fernandez of Richton, Melanie (Ronnie) Mayes of Chesapeake, VA, and Sandra Ware of Hattiesburg; grandchildren, Kerstin Smith, Kallie Smith, Rian Murphy, Charleigh Fernandez, Riley Grigsby, Erin Murphy, Abigayle Allen, and Joey Allen; great grandchild, Kohlston Dykes; and brothers, Jimmie Best of Nebraska, Jeff Best of Kentucky, and Scott Best of Florida.
