Services for Mr. Rusty Bobbitt, age 78, of Laurel, will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at Jesus Name Church in Ellisville.  Mr. Bobbitt passed from this life on June 19, 2025 in Jackson.  Bro. David Williamson will officiate the service.  Burial will follow on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Biloxi National Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers will be Aaron Downing, Cole Downing, Connor Downing, Buford Downing, Kasey Dinwiddie, Taylor Dinwiddie, and Jake Clark as alternate.

Mr. Bobbitt was a dedicated husband, veteran, and hard-working man who proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he worked as an over-the-road truck driver for more than 32 years, a profession he took great pride in. After retiring from trucking, he continued to serve his community as a security guard at Howard Industries.

A man of strong faith, Mr. Bobbitt was a devoted member of Jesus Name Church in Ellisville. He found joy in farming, working outdoors, and living a simple, honest life. In his quiet moments, he loved to play chess and guitar, hobbies that reflected both his sharp mind and creative spirit.

He will be remembered for his dedication, humility, and the steady presence he brought to all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett R. Bobbitt II and Frances Louise Bobbitt; adn brother, James Edward Bobbitt.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Geraldine Clark of Laurel; children, George (Connie) Bobbitt of Memphis, TN, Andrea (Darrel) McGavin, Buford Downing of Myrick, and Aaron (Nikki) Downing of Ovett; sister, Sarah Ceriddle of North Carolina; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
