In Loving Memory of Mr. Robert O. Fick

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the peaceful passing of Mr. Robert O. "Bobby" Fick, age 80, of State Line. Bobby lived a life committed to serving his country and safeguarding his community. He departed this world on Monday, March 11th, leaving behind a legacy defined by love, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication to his family.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, Bobby answered the call of duty at a young age, serving his country with distinction as a proud veteran. His bravery and dedication to protecting freedom and justice were evident throughout his military career in the US Army and Army National Guard, where he served with honor and valor. Bobby's service to his country spanned over four decades, beginning with his service in the US Army with a tour in Vietnam. He would then transition to the Mississippi Army National Guard and serve 33 years, which included deployment in Operation Desert Storm before his retirement as Sergeant First Class.

Upon returning home, Bobby continued his life of service by dedicating himself to his community of Leakesville and Greene County. His legacy of service included a distinguished career in law enforcement, which included serving as Officer and Chief of the Leakesville Police Department, Constable of Greene County, and Deputy and Court Bailiff with the Greene County Sheriff's Department for almost four decades. His commitment to upholding the law and protecting others never failed, earning him the respect and admiration of his peers and the gratitude of the community he loved.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Bobby was a pillar of strength and love for his family. His steadfast devotion to his family was evident in every action and word, leaving a lasting mark on those he held dear. He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids on the farm, attending ballgames, and working with his animals.

Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2024, at the First Baptist Church of Buckatunna, with Bro. Terry Williams and Bro. Irvis Dale Everett officiating.  Burial will follow in Shanty Fork Cemetery with Bro. Johnny Coaker officiating.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert O. and Pearl Fick; and his brother-in-law, Dave Dearman.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Billie Sue Fick; his children, Lisa (Dan) Brewer of Sand Hill, Sandy (Vicki) Hampton of Petal, Steven (Stacey) Hampton of Sumrall, Shawn (Kate) Hampton of Petal, Scott (Christine) Hampton of Petal, and Suzanne Manning of Moselle; his grandchildren, Anna Catherine (Ryan), Emma, Lindsey, Avery, Ann Hardin, Ryan, Will, Ella, Ethan, Julianna, Whitley, Knox, McKinley, and Lucy; his brothers, Ralph (Kathy) Fick of Lena, MS and Richard (Janie) Fick of State Line; and his sister, Ruth Ann Dearman of State Line. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, great nieces and nephews, and extended family.

Bobby will be remembered for his big heart, loyalty, and selfless dedication to others.  Though he may no longer walk among us, his spirit will live on in the memories of those he touched and the values he instilled in his loved ones.
