Services celebrating the life of Mrs. Rachel Walley Green, age 74, of Leakesville, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Sweetwater Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Jon Williamson and Bro. Terry Smith officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery

Mrs. Rachel, or Nanny as she was more often referred to, had a loving spirit that few could match.  She adored her family, and took great joy in feeding them, and anyone else she could.  One of her greatest passions was playing the piano as she often did when she and her sisters would sing and share her love for the Lord.  As long as her health would allow, she was an active member of Sweetwater Missionary Baptist Church.  As with most Nannys, she dearly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She also enjoyed spending time with her four legged companion, Brody.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Rev. Ezra and Bertha Mae Walley; her brothers, Harry Edward Walley, Harold Walley, and Dale Walley, and her sisters, Francis Green, Helen Hicks, and Gail Freeman.

She leaves behind her beloved husband, Donald Green of Leakesville; daughter, Tonya Green (Edgar) Moreno of Leakesville; son, Bryant Mayer (Liane) Green of Lucedale; sisters, Cathy Walley Merritt of Leakesville and Margaret (Marvin) Skipper of Lucedale; her grandchildren, Alexis Moreno Styron of Leakesville, Ariel (Ricky) Pittman of Hattiesburg, Logan Green of Ocean Springs, Brianna Green of Leakesville, and Colby Green of Missoula, MT; her great grandchildren, Brancen, Jase, Neal, Andi Lex, Knox, and Marcus; and stepgrandchildren, Mack Kittrell and Elizabeth Turner.

Visitation for Mrs. Green will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 also at Sweetwater Missionary Baptist Church.
