Services celebrating the wonderful life of Mrs. Nancy Jo McMurry Roberts, age 71, of the Avera Community, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 30, 2025, in the Richton chapel of Jones and Son Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in the Mutual Rights Cemetery in Avera. Nancy passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025, in Gulfport, Mississippi.

Born on June 20, 1953, in Brownsville, Tennessee, Nancy dedicated her life to her family, education, and creativity. She spent over 20 years as a devoted teacher in the Harrison County School District, where she touched the lives of countless students with her warmth, patience, and passion for learning and the arts.  A remarkably talented colored pencil artist, Nancy found joy and beauty in the simple things—flowers, nature, a good book, and the world around her. Her artistic spirit was matched only by her love for her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Virginia McMurry; her parents-in-law, Elmer and Clyma Glenn Roberts; brothers-in-law, Michael Hyde and Garvis Moore; and a sister-in-law, Glenda Moore.

She is survived by her beloved husband of over 50 years, Bruce K. Roberts; daughter, Jennifer (John) White of Sumrall; son, Chris (Mendi) Roberts of Sumrall; grandchildren, Molly and Kendall Roberts, Rylee and John Roberts "JR" White; brother, Michael (Wanda) McMurry of Sarasota, FL; sister, Patricia (Jim) Sturdevan of Knoxville, TN; sister-in-law, Penny Hyde of Avera; nephews, Dan (Colleen) Sturdevan and Josh (Stephanie) Fletcher; nieces, Elizabeth (Nick) Risk, Teea (Martin) Herring, and Sarah (Paul) Messina.

Visitation for Mrs. Roberts will be held from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, also at Jones and Son Funeral Home in Richton.
