INTERMENT:  The Pines Cemetery

Graveside services for Mr. Elgen Brewer, age 82, of Richton, will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, September 28, 2026 at The Pines Cemetery in Sand Hill.  Mr. Brewer passed from this life on September 23, 2026 at his residence.  Bro. Mike McLain and Bro. Carl Odom will officiate the service.  

Mr. Brewer proudly served in the United States Army, where he saw action in Korea. Following his military service, he continued his commitment to serving his country by working full-time for the United States Army Reserve. He worked over the motor pool until he became disabled. In his younger years, he also worked as a logger.

Mr. Brewer was never afraid to take on a task and was known for his strong work ethic, determination, and willingness to help. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing, gardening, and tending to his cows. His faith was an important part of his life, and he was a member of the Methodist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Nellie Brewer; grandson, Tyler Elgen Brewer; and sister, Bernice Byrd.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Christine Brewer of Sand Hill; son, Brian (Tammy) Brewer of Sand Hill; daughter, Cindy (Monty) Templeton of Piave; grandchildren, Justin (Haley) Brewer, Caleb (Alyssa) Brewer, Matthew Templeton, Stephanie (Don) Gatlin, and Kristen (Douglas) Young; great-grandchildren, Allie Kate, Emerson, Tripp, Jase, Nellie, Jaken, Grayson, Gaines, and Carolyn; and sisters, Joyce Walley, Iola McLain, and Janice Faye Smith.

Mr. Brewer will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his service to his country, his hardworking spirit, and the simple joys he found in the outdoors. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
