Services for Mr. Billy Joe Mills, age 86, of Richton, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 10, 2026, at Jones & Son Chapel in Richton. Mr. Mills passed from this life on November 5, 2026 in Hattiesburg. Bro. Micah Mills and Bro. Mylan Mills will officiate the service and burial will follow in Dykes Chapel Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jamie Freeman, Dustin Walley, Reign Freeman, Mason Mills, Dillon Walley, Colton Freeman, Ryan Freeman, and Josh Freeman.

Mr. Mills dedicated 38 years of his career to Ingalls Shipbuilding before going on to serve as Road Foreman for Perry County Beat 3 for eight years. He was a faithful member of Dykes Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, where he enjoyed fellowship and the friendships he shared with others.

In his spare time, Mr. Mills found great joy in farming, fishing, and tending to his ducks. He especially cherished time spent with his grandchildren and family, who were the greatest joy of his life. He also loved fellowshipping with others and attending gospel sings, where he enjoyed the music, fellowship, and blessings of the day.

Mr. Mills will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love for his family, his faith, and the simple pleasures that brought him happiness. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Mills; parents, P.C. and Roberta Mills; and siblings, Johnny Ray, Bobbie Jean, Bobby Faye, and Malcolm.

He is survived by his children, Joey (Ellie) Mills, Joann (Jimmie) Freeman, Janet (Dennis) Walley, and Jennifer Anderson; grandchildren, Jamie (Ginger) Freeman, Josh Freeman, Jeanna Freeman, Micah (Sarah) Mills, Marley (Lance) McGree, Mason Mills, Dustin Walley, Dillon (Shelby) Walley, Lanae (Chris) Mattox, Reign (Kristian) Freeman, and Brianna (Micah) Walley; 25 great grandchildren; and sister, Marlene James
