Milton Ray West of Richton, MS was born January 2, 1933, in Perry County, MS and died at his home in Richton, September 23, 2023.

He retired as a Process Engineer from Union Carbide in Texas City, TX.  Then later worked in the construction industry across the southeast US, eventually retiring after having worked his way into construction supervisor and having been with Haile Consulting Engineering as party chief.

Ray was well-known by friends and family for sharing his outstanding citrus crops and for the earliest and latest tomato crops in the area.  He was also a great storyteller and had an amazing memory of the history and events of Perry County.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Genial West; parents, John S and Lena Anderson West; and sister, Ann West Davis.

He is survived by his daughter, Mary Elena West of Richton; sisters, Phyllis (John) Locke of Picayune and Janelle (Wade) Jordan of Petal; brother, Jerry (Deborah) West of Richton; brother-in-law, Sam Davis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
