Michael Lynn "Mike" Burnett, age 69, passed away on April 9, 2026, in Laurel, Mississippi, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on September 17, 1956, in Laurel, Mississippi.

Mike lived a life marked by hard work, dedication, and love for his family. Over the years, he served as a soldier in the United States Army, worked at Leaf River Saw Mill, spent time in construction, and then spent the remainder of his time in the workforce as a truck driver. He was a man who took pride in providing and doing his work well.  Above all, Mike was a loving father who was dedicated, supportive, and full of life. He had a natural sense of humor that could bring light to those around him, and he was someone people could count on when it mattered most. His loyalty to those he loved never wavered.
In his free time, Mike found joy in the simple things. He loved fishing and hunting, enjoyed working with his hands through carpentry, and treasured every moment spent with his family. These were the moments that meant the most to him.  Mike will be remembered for his strength, his laughter, and the unwavering loyalty he showed to those closest to him.

He is survived by his wife, Faith West Burnett of Laurel, MS; his children, Melanie Laine Burnett and Crystal Shea Easterling, both of Hattiesburg, MS; his brothers, Arthur Dale Burnett of Waynesboro, MS, Roger Burnett of Richton, MS, and Ernest Burnett of Richton, MS; his sisters, Edna Gayle Siddon and Patricia Ann Felts, both of Richton, MS; along with his three stepchildren; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, with two more on the way; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alford Burnett, Jr. and Geneva Walley Burnett, and his son, Jason Lee Burnett.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at 19th Avenue Baptist Church in Hattiesburg.  Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m., prior to the service.  The service will be officiated by Arthur Burnett.
