Celebration of life services will be held at a later date for Mr. Michael Kelly Maykut, age 60, of Liberty, Mississippi.  Mr. Maykut passed from this life on June 5, 2026 at his residence.

Mr. Maykut passed away leaving behind a legacy defined by determination, talent, adventure, and devotion to family. Throughout his life, he pursued excellence in every endeavor and inspired those around him with his remarkable abilities and unwavering spirit.  For over ten years Mr. Maykut worked as a professional truck driver, demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment to providing for his family. Beyond his professional career, he was a personal trainer and competitive bodybuilder. His dedication and discipline led him to achieve national recognition, earning second place in a national bodybuilding competition.

A man of many talents and interests, Mr. Maykut was a certified private pilot who embraced the freedom of flight and a certified scuba diver who enjoyed exploring the wonders beneath the sea. His adventurous nature was matched only by his extraordinary musical gifts.

A gifted and accomplished musician, Mr. Maykut began showcasing his talents at an early age. He proudly served as Drum Major at Chalmette High School, where his leadership and musical excellence were widely recognized. Possessing a rare natural ability, he could play virtually any musical instrument he picked up. Among his many musical accomplishments, he was especially known for his skill on the trumpet. He faithfully served as Music Director for three years at Assembly of God Tabernacle in Chalmette, Louisiana, where he shared his love of music and worship with his church family and congregation.

Mr. Maykut's memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were blessed to experience his many gifts and his generous spirit.

He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Maykut (Joshua) Kearney of Metairie, LA; grandchildren, Connor Kearney and Parker Kearney, both of Metairie, LA; mother, Brenda Maykut of New Orleans, LA; brothers, Kent (Donna) Maykut  of Madisonville, LA, and Brian (Melissa) Maykut  of Hattiesburg, MS; and nieces and nephews, Mason Maykut and Hollie Maykut, both of Madisonville, LA, Blake Maykut and Justin Maykut, both of Hattiesburg, MS.
