Services for Mrs. Maxie Jane Robbins Sylvest, age 88, of Beaumont, will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Calvary Baptist Church in New Augusta.  Mrs. Sylvest passed from this life on November 27, 2023 at Merit Health Wesley.  Bro. Dustin Broadway and Bro. Michael McLendon will officiate the service and burial will follow in Sylvest Family Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Jones, Bryan Combs, Austin Parker, Jonathan Sylvest, Jason Sylvest, Scott Sylvest, and Dustin Broadway as alternate.  Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Evans Parker.

Mrs. Sylvest worked for many years as a seamstress at the garment factory and then spent close to 20 years working in the cafeteria at New Augusta Elementary School.  She was a long-time devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church.  She loved taking care of her family, working in the church, and cooking.

Mrs. Sylvest was preceded in death by her husband, M.L. Sylvest; parents, Harry and Savanah Robbins; three sisters and one brother.

She is survived by her daughters, Pat Jones and Shirley Gregory, both of New Augusta and Dr. Betty Sylvest of Athens, GA; sons, Raymond (Patty) Sylvest of McComb and Randy Sylvest of New Augusta; grandchildren, Mike (Amy) Jones, Tonya Jones (Bryan) Combs, Kathy Gregory (Josh) Harris, Patci Gregory (lollipop), Nancy Gregory, Dana Gregory (Shaun) Carter, Thomasina Adams, Amanda Parker, Jonathan Sylvest, Jason (Tiffany) Sylvest, and Maranda (Dustin) Broadway; 14 great grandchildren; and sisters, Roxie Stanbro of Columbia and Katherine Galloway of Texas
