Services for Mrs. Mary Sue Rounsaville, age 83, of Leakesville, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Faith Presbyterian Church in Leakesville.  Rev. Erick Kruger and Rev. Ron Pierce will officiate the service and burial will follow in McLeod-Magnolia Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Leslie V. McNeal IV, Rounsaville S. McNeal, Bill Clark Rounsaville, Rush Byrd Rounsaville, Lynn Robertson, Andrew Rush, Derrick Smith, and Paul Walters.

Mary Sue (Rush) Rounsaville breathed deeply without trouble the air of Heaven on January 22, 2024.  She knew her Savior by name when she kneeled before Him, and when He said, "Rise, good and faithful servant," she got up by her own strength.

Mary Sue was born September 9, 1940 to Maxwell Vernon and Viola Gladys (Kittrell) Rush.  She attended public schools and graduated from Hattiesburg High School before attending and graduating from the University of Southern Mississippi.  She was widowed when she was 22 by the death of Leslie McNeal, Jr., to whom she bore one son, Leslie V. McNeal III.  She met Bill Rounsaville at a wedding; the rest is history.  They married and spent 59 years together, having another son, Bill Rush Rounsaville.

Mary Sue taught business courses in Greene County public schools for 37 years.  She was beloved, and a generation of students called her "Mimi," like her grandchildren do.  She helped organize Fellowship of Christian Students events at the high school.  She retired when Bill retired; they were devoted to one another.

Mary Sue played the piano and organ at Leakesville Presbyterian Church and then Faith Presbyterian Church.  Before Faith had a building, Mary Sue held Wednesday night Bible study and youth group programs at her home.  In times of trouble, she would softly but resolutely say, "The Lord is in control."

Mary Sue was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Max "Sonny" Rush.

She is survived by her loving husband, Bill Byrd Rounsaville; her brother, Jere (Nancy) Rush; her children, Leslie V. (Jennifer) McNeal III  and Bill Rush (Bridgette) Rounsaville ; her grandchildren Leslie V. (Christie) McNeal IV , Rounsaville S. McNeal, Bill Clark (Lindsey) Rounsaville , and Rush Byrd Rounsaville; and her great grandchildren, Leslie Vaughn McNeal V, Annie Elizabeth McNeal, Kipton Judge Rounsaville, Rowen Oscar Rounsaville, and William Robert Rounsaville. She also leaves behind a sister-in-law, Kathleen Rush of Hattiesburg.

Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m., also at the church.
