Services for Mrs. Mary Ann Penton, age 85, of McLain, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 1, 2026, at First Baptist Church of McLain.  Mrs. Penton passed from this life on May 27, 2026 in Mobile, Alabama.  Bro. Phillip Erkhart and Bro. Zack Cochran will officiate the service and burial will follow in Progress Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers will be Shawn Hobby, Chucky Roberts, Isaac Breland, Trey Pugh, Scott McLain, and Ledon Cooley.  Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Delmus McLain.

Mrs. Penton was a devoted Christian woman, loving mother and grandmother, and faithful friend to many. A longtime member of Thompson Hill Baptist Church, she faithfully served her church family as pianist for many years, sharing her love of music and worship through her God-given talent.  She dedicated more than 20 years of her life caring for others through her work in the home health industry. Her compassionate spirit and gentle heart touched countless lives throughout her career and community. She found joy in simple pleasures, especially sewing and spending time outdoors mowing her grass, hobbies she took great pride in and thoroughly enjoyed.  Mrs. Penton will be remembered for her caring heart, unwavering faith, strong work ethic, and deep love for her family. Her legacy of kindness, service, and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Penton, Sr.; parents, Dossie Lee and Ruby Jewell McLain; great-grandson, Jason Bradley; brother, Jimmy McLain; and sister, Shirley Green.

She is survived by her sons, James E. "Jamie" (Debbie) Penton and Daniel Brady (Sheraka) Penton, both of McLain; daughter, Michelle Penton of McLain; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
