With hearts full of both sorrow and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Mrs. Mary Helen Churchwell Dearman, age 88, of Leakesville, who peacefully passed from this life at her home on March 21, 2026.

Born on May 20, 1937, in Mobile, Alabama, Mary Helen was the cherished daughter of Gabriel T. and Helen B. Churchwell. She lived a life grounded in faith, love, and quiet devotion, reflecting the grace of a servant's heart in all she did.

A faithful member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, Mary Helen's life was a testimony to her enduring faith and trust in God. She found joy in the simple blessings of life—casting a fishing line, preparing meals that brought family together, and opening her home with warmth and generosity. Her kitchen was a place of comfort, where love was the main ingredient and everyone was made to feel welcome.

Mary Helen worked faithfully for many years alongside her beloved husband, Jarvis Dearman, serving as secretary and bookkeeper for Dearman Oil Company. Together, they built not only a business but a life rich in love, partnership, and shared adventures. Their 67 years of marriage were a beautiful reflection of commitment, faith, and enduring companionship. She especially treasured the times they spent traveling together, making memories that would last a lifetime.

Above all, Mary Helen adored her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, whose greatest joy came from the time spent with those she loved. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she poured into them a legacy of kindness, strength, and faith that will continue for generations.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jarvis Dearman; her parents; and her brother, Rufus B. (Camille) Churchwell.

She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her children, Jarma D. (Irvin Wayne) Farmer and Bernie (Angie) Dearman, both of Leakesville; her grandson, Colton (Ellen) Dearman of Midland, Texas; her granddaughters, Cassidy (Matt) Dearman and Dalee B. Criddle; her step-grandchildren, Lindsey (Josh) Lentz of Kingston, Tennessee, Caleb Farmer of Leakesville, and Makenzie Stenum of Houston, Texas; and her brother, Gabe T. (Mildred) Churchwell.

Though her earthly journey has ended, we find comfort in knowing that Mary Helen now rests in eternal peace, reunited with her loved ones and embraced in the presence of her Lord. Her life remains a gentle reminder to love deeply, serve faithfully, and cherish the blessings of family and faith.

A graveside service celebrating the wonderful life of Mrs. Mary Helen will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Dearman Family Cemetery.
