Services for Marvin Douglas Rainey, age 90, of Seminary will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 30, 2026, in the Jones and Son Chapel of Moselle. Mr. Rainey passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family on May 25, 2026. Bro. Lamar Harrison and Bro. Allen Ingram will officiate with the burial to follow in the Shelton Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Rainey left behind a legacy of hard work, faith and devotion to his family and friends, but mostly to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He worked as a car salesman for over 35 years. People would come from far and wide to buy autos from him because he believed in honesty and integrity even if it meant losing a sale. Marvin was a member of Bethel Baptist Church for many years, but in his later years was a faithful member of Pleasant Ridge Church of God.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Talmadge and Mae Autrey Rainey; brothers, Don and Horace Rainey; and sister, Joyce Mosley.

Mr. Rainey is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Patsy Rainey of Seminary; children, Doug (Kathy) Rainey of Seminary and Lynette Tamberg (Lee Shelbourn) of Seminary; grandchildren, Tee Jay (Alex) Parker of Seminary and Taylor (Sarrah) Tamberg of Seminary; great-grandchildren, Grayson and Mattie Rae Parker, both of Seminary; sister, Merle Smith of Brookhaven; close friend, Mike Tamberg; and a host of nephews and nieces.

Marvin Rainey was a man of few words and emotions, but you always knew where you stood with him. He was loyal to his family, stood firm in his faith, and was a trusted friend to all who knew him.

He will be greatly missed by all, but we, his family, rejoice knowing he is free from pain in his Heavenly home.

We would like to say a special thank you to Letreasa and Candace from Forrest General Hospice for lovingly caring for him in his final days. Also, a very special thank you to Marsha Yoder who was his "sidekick" and friend.

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2026, at Jones and Son Funeral Home in Moselle.
