Services for Mrs. Martha Jane Anding, age 68, of Purvis, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 31, 2026 at Jones & Son Chapel in Hattiesburg.  Mrs. Anding passed from this life on July 27, 2026 at her residence.  Bro. Brandon Burkhalter will officiate the service and burial will follow in Burkhalter Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers will be Marc Burkhalter, Jason Rowell, Hunter Singley, Hollis Mason, Daniel Herrin, Caden Singley, Phillip Burkhalter, Toxie Burkhalter, and Zabe Burkhalter.

Mrs. Anding will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, sharing 43 wonderful years of marriage with the love of her life. Her unwavering love, kindness, and selfless spirit touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.  She played an extraordinary role in the lives of her six nieces and nephews, helping to raise them with the same love and care as if they were her own. That love continued through the generations as she lovingly cared for her great-nieces and great-nephews. She was always ready to lend a helping hand, offer encouragement, or babysit whenever she was needed. Her home and heart were always open.

A faithful member of Outreach for Jesus Church, Mrs. Anding was affectionately known as "Momo Martha" by the children. She embraced every child with warmth, compassion, and a nurturing spirit that made each one feel loved and special.  Mrs. Anding was also well known for bringing people together through her cooking. Her famous cheeseburger casserole was a favorite among her nieces and nephews, as well as her famous snowball cookies. These cherished recipes, like her love, created lasting memories that her family will treasure forever.

Mrs. Anding's legacy is one of faith, generosity, unconditional love, and service to others. She leaves behind a family forever grateful for the countless ways she enriched their lives. Though she will be deeply missed, her love, kindness, and the memories she created will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marcus and Myrtle Burkhalter; and sister, Wanda Rowell.

She is survived by her husband, Charles "Dwight" Anding of Purvis; brothers, Jerry (Ronda) Burkhalter and William "Bill" (Lesia) Burkhalter, both of Purvis; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
