Services for Mrs. Margaret McCarty, age 70, of Ovett will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Jones and Son Chapel in Richton.  Mrs. McCarty passed from this life on January 6, 2024 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.  Bro. Buster Byrd will officiate the service and burial will follow in Beech Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers will be Justin McCarty, Perry Morris, Gary McCarty, Wendell McCarty, Tom Gatlin, Thomas McCarty, and Derek Walley.

Mrs. McCarty was preceded in death by her parents, Zander and Jeannie West; husband, Allen McCarty; brothers, Jerry West and Zander Earl West; sister, Eunice West Byrd; and brother-in-law, Bobby Byrd.

She is survived by her husband, Tom Gatlin of Petal; son, Thomas (Sharly) McCarty of Ovett; stepsons, Gary (Rita) McCarty of Leakesville and Wendell (Shannon) McCarty of Petal; sister, Darlene Bazor of Petal; grandchildren, Anna (Perry) Morris of Ellisville, Justin (Crystal) McCarty of Ovett, Alicia (Jay) Clifton of New Augusta, Tobi McCarty of Moselle, Erika Bailey of Leakesville, Samantha McCarty of Leakesville, Richard Wychelewski of Leakesville, Franky Widder of Mobile, AL, and Dalton Breland of Runnelstown; great grandchildren, Reese Walley, River Walley and Rowan Walley, all of Hattiesburg and Caleb McCarty of Ovett; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
