Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 25, 2022 at Jones and Son Chapel in Richton for Mrs. Lizzie Jean Smith, age 90, of Richton.  Mrs. Smith passed from this life on November 21, 2022.  Bro. Jackie Spell will officiate the service with burial to follow in Frisco Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Randy Freeman, Forest Scarbrough, Marshall Henderson, Jon Henderson, Pete Vanderford, Joe Meadows, and Jacob Phillips.  Honorary Pallbearer will be Brandon Scarbrough.

Mrs. Smith was a retired farmer.  She was a member of Brewer Baptist Church.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Grover L. Smith; sons, H. C. Smith and an infant son; daughter, Peggy Jean Freeman; parents, Henry Howard Vanderford and Mamie Hudgins Vanderford; brothers, Earl, Cecil, and Dewey Vanderford; sister, Mavis Uree Meadows; and grandson, Brian Lee Smith.

She is survived by her son, Roy Lee (Elaine) Smith of Richton; son-in-law, Dale Freeman of Richton; granddaughters, Charlene (Forest) Scarbrough of Ocean Springs and Tracey (Marshall) Henderson of Richton; grandson, Randy Freeman of Richton; great grandchildren, Brandyn Scarbrough of Honolulu, HI, Johnathan (Cherie) Henderson of Richton, Cheyenne Scarbrough of Ocean Springs, Emilee (Jacob) Phillips of Bay Springs, and Aimee Henderson of Laurel; a great great granddaughter due in December; brother, J. C. (Sara) Vanderford of Saraland, AL; sister, Ruth Byrd of McLain; sister-in-law, Vivian Vanderford of Neely; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
