A memorial service will be held for Mr. Larry Jay Lavanaway, Sr., age 79, of Purvis at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Central Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, 27 Central Church Road, Purvis, MS.  Mr. Lavanaway passed from this life on June 12, 2023 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.  Bro. Harlan Davis will officiate the service.

Mr. Lavanaway was a retired electrician with the Bethlehem Steel Company.  He was also a veteran of the United States Army.  Mr. Lavanaway was a member of Central Baptist Church of Lamar County.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Lavanaway of Purvis; daughter, Alice Lavanaway of Noblesville, IN; son, Larry Jay Lavanaway, Jr. of Solon, OH; grandchildren, Tara (Braxton) Moore, Connor Lavanaway, and Cameron Lavanaway; great grandchildren, Quinn Moore and Bella Rae Moore.
