Services for Mr. Larry Gene Gibson, age 83, of Sumrall, will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, May 29, 2026 at Rock Hill Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Sumrall.  Mr. Gibson passed from this life on May 25, 2026 at his residence.  Bro. Gary Bridges and Bro. Everette Broome will officiate the service and burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers will be Dave Hudson, Lamar Reed, Randall Gibson, Brian Bagwell, Chris Williamson, Lamar McRaney, Terry Holbrook, and Tommy Fewell.

Mr. Gibson was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, veteran, and friend whose life was marked by faith, hard work, and service to others.  He was a faithful member of Rock Hill Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Vietnam veteran. During his military service, he received numerous honors and commendations, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star Medal, and Expert Rifle Medal.  For more than 40 years, Mr. Gibson served his community as a barber and owner of Gibson Barber Shop in Bellevue. He was known for his strong work ethic, friendly conversations, and the relationships he built with generations of customers through the years.  In his spare time, he enjoyed reading, raising cattle, gardening, and spending time at the stockyard. Above all, he dearly loved his family and especially enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maynard and Elouise Gibson.

He is survived by his wife, Janelle Gibson of Sumrall; daughter, Pam (Tim) Boykin of Tuscaloosa, AL; grandchildren, Elizabeth Boykin and Katelynn Boykin, both of Tuscaloosa, AL; and brother, Randall Gibson of Petal.
