Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Jones and Son Funeral Home in Hattiesburg for Mr. LA Pace, age 98, of Sumrall.  Mr. Pace passed from this life on March 8, 2023.  Bro. Ed Steele will officiate the service with burial to follow in Midway Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Hayden Myers, Charlie Peterson, Mark Bond, Dwight Ward, Wesley Boutwell, and Wendell Boutwell.

Mr. Pace was born on May 13, 1924 in Sumrall, Mississippi to Robert Lincoln Pace and Ella Mae Patterson.  He was united in marriage to Mirlee Cameron Pace on October 16, 1943 and they were blessed with one son and 63 loving years together.

Mr. Pace was a retired truck driver of 33 years with Ryder, Roadway, West Brothers and Dixie Highway.  After he retired from Ryder in 1984, he decided retirement wasn't the life for him.  He started working with MS Auto Auction and enjoyed his career there for many years.  He was a Master Mason at Epley Lodge, a World War II veteran, and a member of the Teamsters Union.

He was also an avid farmer and enjoyed his time in the garden.  His passion was growing vegetables for his family and friends within the Midway community to enjoy.  He passed his gardening skills to his grandchildren, Robert and Lindsay and her husband, Hayden.

Mr. Pace was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ella Mae Pace; wife, Mirlee Cameron Pace; his only son, LA "Junior" Pace, Jr.; second wife, Eddie Vee Graham Pace, and brothers, Clyde, Norman, and Robert Pace.

He is survived by his two grandchildren, Robert Bryant Pace and Lindsay Pace (Hayden) Myers; daughter-in-law, Darlene (Mark) Bond; and four stepchildren, Doyce, Wayne, Vicki, and Tammy.
