Services for Ms. Kay Newell, age 90, of Richton will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 24, 2025 at Jones and Son Chapel in Richton.  Ms. Newell passed from this life on February 20, 2025 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.  Bro. Mitchell Smith and Bro. Josh Dunn will officiate the service and burial will follow in West Salem Cemetery in Piave.  Serving as pallbearers will be Josh Smith, Chris Smith, Bruce Smith, Brian Smith, Wayburn Danial Smith, Adam Newell, and Dewayne Smith as alternate.

Ms. Newell was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Richton as long as her health allowed.  She was a proud member of the Ruth Sunday School class.  She was a beautician and the owner of Kay Newell's Beauty Shop for over 50 years.  She loved to cut grass, work in her flower beds, visit her neighbors, and just enjoying nature.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Gladys Smith; son, Jimmy Newell; brothers, Wayburn, Wallace, Kenny, Stan, Mack, Verl, and Charles Thomas; and sisters, Audrey, Joy, Ann, Catrina, and Lurene.

She is survived by her sons, Tim Wise of Richton, Don (Ann) Wise of Mandeville, LA, and Johnny Newell of Richton; grandchildren, Catherine Wise (Jamie) Chandler, Jennifer Kay Wise, Mark (Lisa) Wise, Chris (Sarina) Blum, David A. Newell, and John A. Newell; great grandchildren, Brody, Taylor, Mandy, and Frances; brothers, Dwight (Diane) Smith and Mitchell (Diane) Smith; and sister, Lanay (John) Harvill.
