Services celebrating the extraordinary life of Katherine C. "Katy" Seale Barbour of Nashville, Tennessee and Vernal, Mississippi will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 20, 2025 at Vernal Presbyterian Church with Rev. Reid Roberson and Rev. Philip Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the McKay Family Cemetery.

Katy was born and lived as a child in Memphis, Tennessee.  She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri.  Katy married the love of her life, Christopher Barbour, at the Vernal Presbyterian Church.  After living a few years in New York, Katy and Chris moved to Nashville, Tennessee where she explored one of her greatest joys, music.

In Nashville, she worked as a vocal musician, recording several songs, and working with various artists.  She loved to sing in church when she visited Grace Methodist with her mother or at Vernal Presbyterian.  Katy was passionate about Bible study and memorizing scripture.  She loved deeply and had a big heart for anyone she knew needed a friend or a listening ear.  Her desire to constantly help people led her to become a counselor at the Nashville Rescue Mission Life Recovery Program.  Katy moved to the Vernal community to take care of her beloved mother as her health declined.  She worked tirelessly to provide loving care for her and to find good nursing care to help.  She was a part of the Vernal Presbyterian Church family when she visited her mother and then as much as she could while she cared for her these past years.

Another of her great passions was animals and caring for them.  She loved dogs, especially "Barney", who was her constant companion that she spoiled daily.

Katy was preceded in death by her father, William Hansel Seale Jr.; and her brother, Bradford "Brad" Seale.

She is survived by her precious mother, Patricia Kay "Pat" McKay; her aunt, Robin Seale; cousins, Ben W. (Ann) Seale Jr. and Hamilton S. (Jim) Moriarty; and the love of her life, Christopher Barbour; along with an untold number of friends.

Visitation for Katy will be held from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. on Monday at Vernal Presbyterian Church preceding the service at 11:00.
