Services for Mr. Howard "Junior" Strickland, age 77, of the Johnson Creek Community, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at Johnson Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Mike Lane and Bro. Johnny Coaker officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Jonathan Mizell, Clint Brown, Randy "Jay" Strickland, Michael Mizell, Dalton Strickland, and Rancin Robertson serving at pallbearers.

Junior worked most of his life in the log woods and was known for his hard work ethic.  He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.  He absolutely enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 50 years, Modena Esdell Strickland; his children, Shon Heath Strickland and Chana Strickland, and his parents, Howard Lamar and Jessa Lee Strickland.

He is survived by his sons, David (Lesley) Strickland of Leakesville and Randy (Rosemary) Strickland of State Line; his grandchildren, April (Jonathan) Mizell, Shelia (Clint) Brown, Ashley Strickland, Payton (John) Farmer, Dalton Strickland, Emily (Chris) Dees, Cherokee Strickland, and Randy "Jay" Strickland; his great grandchildren, Michael Mizell, Emery Strickland, Walt Brown, Caroline Brown, and Clara Grace Farmer; his brother, Jerry (Mesha) Strickland; his sisters, Vongia (Mike) Fountian and Earnestine Moore, and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Visitation for Mr. Strickland will begin at 6:00 p.m. Monday January 16, 2023 at Johnson Creek Baptist Church.
