Services for Mrs. June Anderson will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Jones and Son Chapel in Hattiesburg. Bro. Danny Forrest and Bro. Sam Oglesby will officiate the service and burial will follow in Mt. Zion Methodist Church Cemetery in Ellisville, MS. Serving as pallbearers will be Greg Allman, Garren Findlay, J.B. Shields, Brantley Shields, Rex McLain, and Shane Vineyard. Visitation will be from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.

Our loving Nana and Mrs. June, as everyone called her, peacefully left her earthly body to join her Lord and Savior and loved ones on May 3, 2023 in her Hattiesburg, MS home. She was born 88.5 years ago on September 10, 1934 as Lillie June Flynt in Ellisville, MS in a small house belonging to the Pitts family and behind their future family home where she was raised. She will tell you "life was no picnic" as she worked hard on the farm every day and picked cotton for her grandparents for years. She married her sweetheart, Edgar Ralph Anderson on September 15, 1954, at age 20. They were married 27 years until his death in 1981. They spent the majority of their married life in Natchez, MS where they raised their three children, Steve, Ben, and Melissa as well as hundreds of other children. Mrs. June kept children in their home for over 40 years and loved every one of them as her own. She had a huge playroom of toys, had them all on a nap schedule, cooked them warm homecooked lunches, and had cookie time in the afternoon. She nicknamed many of them and kept in touch with them over the years. She lost her sweet Ed at the young age of 51 and later her dear son Ben at age 33 after caring for him for many years. Even with great loss, she persevered and continued to keep children and looked forward to grandkid visits, Christmas gatherings, and rocking babies. She was a fabulous cook and rarely used a recipe. Many tried to duplicate her roast, cornbread, and chess squares, but hers were always the best! She loved her Country Western movies and music and occasional football games. She looked forward to long visits and phone calls and had a gift for making anyone comfortable enough to discuss whatever was weighing on their mind. She provided loving, high quality, free therapy (better than money could buy). She made everyone feel accepted, loved, and kept their confidences. Mrs. June spent the last 30 or so years of her life in Hattiesburg, MS and was a member of the Westover Baptist Church.

June was preceded in death by her parents, A. V. and Vivian Flynt; siblings, Allen, Ruth, Virginia, and Tommy; her husband, Edgar Ralph Anderson; her son, Benjamin Andrew Anderson; and granddaughter, Alecia Marie Anderson Shields.

She is survived by her one remaining sibling Frances Sumrall; her son Steven Ralph Anderson (wife Daleen) and her daughter Melissa Anderson Brown (husband Kevin); grandchildren, Sacia Anderson (Garren) Findlay, Stefanie Anderson (Ryan) Henderson, Della Anderson, Daniel (Wendy) Allman, Steven (Sarah) Allman, Gregory (Stephanie) Allman, Jacob (Tori) Anderson, Meagan Brown, and Lilly Brown; and 23 great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will follow at her home around 1:30 p.m.
