Joycelyn Remona Walley, a beacon of love and generosity, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2025, in Rowlett, Texas, at the venerable age of 90. Born on May 8, 1934, in Richton, Mississippi, to the late Rev. Kyrliss "Kurt" and Minnie Walley, Joycelyn's life was a tapestry of dedication, creativity, and unwavering devotion to her family.

Joycelyn's journey through life was shared with her beloved husband, Elbert Walley, until his passing. Together, they created a legacy of love that extended through their family, including their sons, Eddy, Joseph, and Shane Walley, who preceded her in death. Joycelyn's nurturing spirit lives on through her grandchildren Traci and Chris Farrington, Lauren and Jonathan Farmer, Lyndsey Farmer, Zachary and Kristie Walley and Kristy Walley. Her beautiful soul was reflected in the eyes of her great-grandchildren, Alex and Stefanie Monday, Taylor Monday, Garrett and Danielle Farrington, Collin and Lauren Farrington.  And she has many great-great-grandchildren who will grow up hearing tales of Joycelyn's love and selflessness. She was also loved by her sister, Maxine Walley, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a multitude of other family and friends.

Joycelyn's professional life was marked by a remarkable 42-year tenure as a Home Administrator with Mr. and Mrs. Welfelt, where her compassionate nature and organizational skills ensured a warm and welcoming environment for all. Her colleagues remember her as a pillar of the community, whose involvement and contributions were as heartfelt as they were impactful.

Her personal interests were as varied as they were fulfilling. Joycelyn was an accomplished seamstress, creating beautiful garments and gifts with the same care and precision she applied to every aspect of her life. She found solace and joy in painting, capturing the beauty of the world as she saw it through her artful eyes. Crocheting was another of her passions, through which she crafted a tangible legacy of her warmth and patience.

Music was the soundtrack of Joycelyn's life, with gospel tunes resonating with her spirit, uplifting her soul, and spreading joy to those around her. Her love for music was only surpassed by her devotion to her family, to whom she dedicated her life with an unwavering commitment that knew no bounds.

Those who knew Joycelyn will remember her as the embodiment of love, generosity, and selflessness. Her presence was a gift to all who had the pleasure of knowing her, and her memory will continue to inspire those she has left behind. In every facet of her life, Joycelyn exemplified the virtues of kindness, patience, and unconditional love. As we bid farewell to this extraordinary woman, we celebrate the immeasurable impact she had on the lives she touched.  She will be forever in our hearts.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Chris and Traci Farrington for the love and care given to Joycelyn in their home during her last days.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Rest Haven Funeral Home in Rowlett, Texas. The family will gather prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m.  Services for Joycelyn will also be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Lovewell Freewill Baptist Church in Richton, Mississippi.  She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Mt. Zion Cemetery immediately following the service.  Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. also at the church.
