A memorial service will be held at a later date for Mr. John Douglas Pitts, Sr., age 75, of Laurel.  Mr. Pitts passed from this life on February 27, 2023.

Mr. Pitts was a retired truck driver.  He was a Vietnam veteran with the U.S. Air Force as well as a member of the Ellisville Masonic Lodge.

Mr. Pitts was preceded in death by his parents, Haskel and Helen Pitts; brothers, Thomas Pitts, Crawford Pitts, and Jody Pitts; sister, Ruby Pearson; and grandparents, John and Annie Pitts and Joseph and Della Welch.

He is survived by his wife, Eva Pitts of Laurel; son, John Pitts, Jr. of Laurel; daughter, Ramona (Joey) Hinton of Richton; stepson, Kay Tessmer of Frankfurt, Germany; sister, Rachel Wells of Ellisville; brothers, Jimmie Dale Pitts and Stanford Pitts, both of Big Creek; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
