Services for Mr. John B. "J.B." White, age 88, of Richton, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 24, 2024, in the Richton chapel of Jones and Son Funeral Home with Billy Bourgeois, Colin Cameron, and Bro. Josh Dunn officiating.  Burial will follow in the Sunset Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers will be Jay White, Aaron White, Casey Cameron, Brody Bourgeois, Jayden White, and Ben Bourgeois, Jr.  Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Bates and Richard West.

J.B. joined the U.S. Army shortly after completing his education and served in Okinawa at the begining of the Vietnam War.  Following his service to his country, he returned to Richton and began teaching vocational education at Richton High School.  After many years of teaching, he entered the oilfield and stayed until he retired from Kerr-McGee as a production supervisor.  He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Richton and enjoyed serving his Lord and Savior there.  He greatly enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 62 years, Bobbie White; his son, James White; his grandson, Ben Bourgeois; and his brothers, Bob Vanderslice, Marlette Vanderslice, Buddy White, and Billy White.

He is survived by his daughters, Lynn (Bill) Bourgeois of Bay St. Louis and Susan (David) Bounds of Petal; his grandchildren, Billy (Leah) Bourgeois, Jay (Jessica) White, Aaron (Hadley) White, Emily (Jacob) Bates, Colin Cameron, Casey (Allie) Cameron, and Andrew White; 15 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Bobbie Jo (Randall) Gainey of Athens, AL.

Visitation for Mr. White will be held from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Wednesday also at the funeral home.
