A memorial service will be held at a later date for Mr. Joe Yawn, age 84, of Petal.  Mr. Yawn passed from this life on July 19, 2023 at Bedford Care Center in Petal.

Mr. Yawn proudly served in the United States Navy after graduating from Hattiesburg High School.  He worked as a pipefitter for over 20 years at Ingalls Shipbuilding, and was also a member of the Petal Masonic Lodge.

Mr. Yawn was preceded in death by his wife, Ava Doris Yawn; son, Joey Yawn, Jr.; parents, Willie Yawn and Bertha Herrington; sister, Diane (Larry) Holmes; and nephew, Jason Pearce.

He is survived by his brother, Bill (Jane) Yawn of Petal; nephew, Scotty Yawn; and niece, Jennifer Crocker.
