A memorial service will be held at a later date for Mr. Joe Harold Malone, age 71, of Hattiesburg.  Mr. Malone passed from this life on December 5, 2025 at his residence.

Mr. Malone, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and respected member of his community, passed away leaving behind a legacy rich in music, hard work, and love for the outdoors. For 32 years, he worked as a forestry consultant with Richton Tie & Timber, where he was known for his expertise, dedication, and deep knowledge of the land.

A gifted banjo player, Mr. Malone found great joy in bluegrass music and was a proud member of the Magnolia State Bluegrass Association. Whether picking a tune or listening to friends play, music was woven into the fabric of his life. He also cherished spending time outdoors fishing, hunting, and appreciating the beauty of nature. As a member of the Gun and Reel Sportsman Club, he built many friendships and memories that will be long remembered.

Mr. Malone was preceded in death by his beloved son, Joseph "Jo Jo" Malone, and his parents, Jennings and Rachel Malone.

He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Malone of Hattiesburg; sons, Todd (Stacy) Malone of Ellisville and Jason (Adele) Malone; grandchildren, Lexie Malone, Jaron Malone, Maddie Malone, Brantley Malone, Weylin Malone, and Acea Malone; brother, Dudley Malone, and sister, Caroline Riels.

Mr. Malone will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his love of music, and the joy he found in family and the outdoors. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in every life he touched
