Services for Mr. Jim Andrew McGill, Sr., age 86, of Petal, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Carterville Baptist Church in Petal. Mr. McGill passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at his home.  Bro. Ben Skipper and Bro. Joel Gatlin will officiate the service and burial will follow at Forrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers will be Robert McGill, Steven McGill, Tommy McGill, Jimmy McGill, Robert Rylee, Russell Rylee, and Jake McGill as alternate.

Jim was born on September 5, 1939, in Waynesboro, Mississippi. He dedicated 35 years of his life working for Norfolk Southern Railroad, where he served as a bridge supervisor. After retirement, Jim continued to stay active by spending his days building and renovating rental homes, a testament to his strong work ethic and love for hands-on projects.  He also loved to help his family and friends throughout his life.

He was first married to Margie Nell McGill, with whom he shared over 50 years of marriage until her passing in 2015. He later married Mary McGill on June 10, 2017.

Jim was known for his generous heart, faithfulness, and unwavering dedication to his Christian faith. He was a devoted member of Carterville Baptist Church and a former member and deacon at Sunrise Baptist Church. Throughout his life, he was deeply involved in his church communities, serving faithfully and humbly.

Jim's life was one of service, love, and quiet strength. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margie Nell McGill; daughter, Janet Marie McGill; parents, Samuel Shelton and Vera Green McGill; and sisters, Ruby Faye Gagnon and Martha Jean Rylee.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Catherine McGill of Petal; sons, Jimmy McGill of Mexico, Robert (Constance) McGill of Purvis, and Steven (Tammy) McGill of Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Brooke McGill Montanez, Jordan McGill, Jake McGill, and Asia McGill; great grandchildren, Chance Montanez, Roman Montanez, Nevaeh Montanez, Ella Grace Montanez, Caroline Giles, and Jameson McGill; great-great grandchild, Violet Montanez; sister, Brenda Revette of Buck Creek; brother, Murphy (Brenda) McGill of Poplarville; Sunday school teacher, Butch O'Neal of Petal; pastor, Bro. Ben Skipper of Petal; and neighbor, Gavin Jordan of Petal.
