Services for Dr. James Albert Roberson, Jr., age 78, of Sumrall, will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Jones and Son Chapel in Hattiesburg.  Dr. Roberson joined God in glory on Sunday, September 4, 2022, from his residence.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Sonja Roberson.  Their ministry started in 1973 when he began to serve as pastor in numerous churches throughout Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi.  His earthly service to the Lord culminated with his pastorate at Victory Baptist Church in Bassfield, Mississippi, but his passion and dedication to our Lord survives in the legacy that he has left to his children, Jimmy (Kathy) Roberson, Jerry (Monica) Roberson, and Kimberly (Gareth) Bonner; to his grandchildren, Chloe (Clint), Chelsea (Peyton), Kristen (John Raleigh), Brook (Caleb), Brandon (Miranda), Matthew, Vivian, Annie Kate, Cameron, Calleigh, Amber, and Ryan; to his great grandchildren Iva, Ted, Colt, Aaron, Michael, Madison, Alayah, Charlie, Paxton, and Harold; and siblings, Billy (Pat) Roberson, Betty (Dallas) Bennewitz, Peggy (Tim) Kendrick, and Ira (Cecily) Ramey, along with numerous other relatives and friends.

He has fought the good fight, he has finished the race, he has kept the faith.  "Finally, there is now claimed for him the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, has given to him.  He now charges us:  preach the Word!  Be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry."  (II Timothy 4:1-8).

Mr. Jimmy Roberson, Dr. Jerry Roberson, and Dr. James Sanders will officiate the service and burial will follow in Bellevue cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Matthew Bonner, Peyton Deese, Cameron Herrin, John Raleigh Hubbard, Caleb Nowell, and Clint Wofford.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Rev. Gerald Howard, Rev. Willie Jones, Rev. Carlis Lott, Rev. Garrett McClure, Rev. Scott Morrison, Rev. Scott O'Neil, Dr. L.D. O'Steen, Dr. Jerry Roberson, and Rev. Chris White.
