Services for Ms. Janice Lynn Gurley, age 62, of Ovett will be held at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Praise Tabernacle Holiness Church in Ovett.  Mrs. Gurley passed from this world into eternity after an extended illness at Forrest General Hospital with family and friends surrounding her in love and prayer.  Bro. Russell Barber and Bro. Mike Ariail will officiate the service with burial to follow in the Praise Tabernacle Holiness Church Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers will be Carl Mansley, Caleb Gipson, Cole Downing, Conner Downing, Aaron Downing, Michael Griggs, and Kenny Walters.

Janice was raised in Mobile, Alabama and Saltillo, Mississippi.  She was a mother, grandmother, great granny, daughter, sister, aunt, sister-in-law and friend. Janice was funny, spontaneous, adventurous, enjoyed shopping, loved new places and her two little dogs.  She was a big Alabama Crimson Tide fan, and her favorite color was red.  She had a passion for her potted flowers. She loved quilting and reading.  Janice was an Eastern Star and loved being a member.  Her daddy was a Mason.

Janice was preceded in death by her father, Jack Gurley; mother, Winnie Banker; sisters, Shelia Jones, Janet Wedge, and Jackie Gurley; and brother, Kenneth Gurley.

She is survived by her daughter, Saundra (Matt) Hamby of Ovett; step daughters, Adrienne Danielle Brooks of Mobile, AL, Kristalyn Aydah of Chicago, IL, and Kamyron Leanne Brooks of Mobile, AL; sisters, Kitda (Mike) Ariail of Semmes, AL and Christy Gurley of Birmingham, AL; brother, Kenny (Judy) Hanson of Saltillo, MS; grandchildren, Hunter "Nicole" (Richard) Richardson, Haley (Michael) Griggs, Jacob (Chevie) Hamby, Rylee Jelaine Brooks, Amir Aydah, Aisha Aydah, and Fatima Aydah; great grandchildren, Aurella Griggs, Arianna Griggs, Aiden Griggs, Bella Richardson, Adalynn Richardson, and Analia Richardson; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.
