James Robert (Jimmy) Norris, 71, of Petal, Mississippi, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at the Forrest General Hospital after a lengthy illness. Jimmy was born on June 19, 1953, in Batesville, Mississippi. He was the son of James G. Norris and Frances Herrington Norris.

Jimmy graduated from Lumberton High School and attended Louisiana State University on a Band Scholarship. He excelled in Music and was selected to the Mississippi Lions All-State Band 3 years. Jimmy worked in the Radio and TV industry his entire career. Working in major TV markets as a Technical Program and Commercial Switcher. He served in TV stations in Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas, ending his professional career with Fox Sports South, Houston, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a younger brother James Michael Norris.

Jimmy is survived by his uncle, Dr. Robert (Bob) Herrington and wife Twana of Oakland, Tennessee, and cousins Scott (Libby) Dossett, Roger (Polly) Dossett both of Hattiesburg, Brett (Tammy) Herrington of Houston, Texas, and Mark (Lisa) Herrington of Wareham, Massachusetts.

The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Forrest General Hospital for their dedicated and professional care during Jimmy's hospitalization.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Moselle Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Moselle, Mississippi.
