Services for Mr. James Harold Pitts will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 20, 2026 at Richton Church of God.  Bro. Barry Sullivan and Bro. Pacer Sullivan will officiate the service and burial will follow in Dykes Chapel Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers will be Dustin Stokes, Heath White, Michael Farve, Brian Smith, Mycal Mills, and Shane White.  Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Bo Ruffin and Willie Rigsby.

James Harold Pitts, 68, of Richton, Mississippi, entered his heavenly home and was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on September 14, 2026. He was born on August 18, 1958, in Laurel, Mississippi.

Harold was a hardworking and generous man who spent more than 20 years serving his community through his work with the Town of Richton. He had a heart for helping others and was always willing to lend a hand.  He worked for many years with the Richton Fire Department where he served as the Chief for the past few years.  He was also retired from the National Guard, where he was a Captain.

He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and many of his happiest moments were spent enjoying those pastimes. He deeply loved and cherished his family and was devoted to his church. Above all, he loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His faith guided his life, and the love he had for his family could be seen in everything he did.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Marie Pitts, sister, Ann Holder, and brothers-in-love Roger Dale Holder and Jimmy Ray Thompson.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Amanda and Jimbo Woods of Richton, MS, Jessica Pitts and Jennifer Sanchez of Freeport, FL, and Jennifer and Kam Mills of Richton, MS; his beloved grandchildren, Harley Woods, Sara Woods, Emerson Woods, Jaiden Dole, Jaxon Dole, Jase Dole, and Lucas Mills; his precious great-grandchildren, Liam Woods and Ella Woods; sister, Nell Thompson; and a host nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Also left to cherish his memory is his beloved extended family, those joined to him not by blood, but by love, whom he proudly called his own. Each of them held a special place in his heart, and the love and memories they shared with him will be treasured forever.

Harold will be remembered for his giving heart, his love for the outdoors, his devotion to his faith, and the deep love he had for his family. Although his presence will be greatly missed, his family finds comfort in knowing that he is now at peace in his heavenly home, resting in the arms of Jesus.
