Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Tiger Creek Missionary Baptist Church for Mr. James Edgar Holifield, age 78, of Ovett, who passed away peacefully at his home on April 3, 2025.

Bro. Bill Myers and Bro. Barry Sullivan will officiate the service with burial to follow at Tiger Creek Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Sykes, Robert Russum, Tony Poole, Josh Metz, Rex Musgrove, James Jones, Eugene Creel, and Tony Newell.  Honorary pallbearer will be Kolton Blake.

James was a member and deacon of Tiger Creek Missionary Baptist Church.  He enjoyed being with his family, friends and fishing.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Mr. Holifield was preceded in death by his father, Henry Holifield; mother, Ruby Holifield; brother, Myron Holifield; sister, Charlotte Mills; and brother-in-law, Dean Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Holifield; sons, Eric (Tisha) Holifield of Ovett and Jared (Melanie) Holifield of Laurel; sisters, Jean (Leon) Cooper of Richton, Debbie (Terry) Thompson of Ovett, Connie Smith of Arkansas; grandchildren, Kennedie (Michael) Blake of Ovett, Austin Holifield of Laurel, Hayden (Ryan) Holifield of Ovett, Mallerie Holifield of Laurel, Cayden Brown of Japan, and Kirsten McDougle of Colorado; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 – 11:00 a. m., Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Tiger Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
