Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Piave Baptist Church for Mr. James Edward Jones, age 83, of Richton, Mississippi, who passed from this life on August 22, 2026.  Bro. Terry Phillips and Bro. Avery Champaigne will officiate the service, with burial to follow at Henderson Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers will be Adam Love, Kaden Perry, Christian Perry, Cannon Perry, Grant Burns, and Brae Burns.  Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Caldwell, Walter Smith, and Scott Elmore.

Mr. Jones was born on August 13, 1943, to O. B. Jones and Annie Mae Shows Jones. He will be lovingly remembered by his family and all who knew him.  He was a member of the Piave Baptist Church and was a retired senior draftsman with Ingalls Shipbuilding after 40 years of service. He was an avid fisherman, loved to cook, and was a fan of the Ole Miss Rebels.  He loved spending quality time with his family. His memory will be cherished by his loving family and those whose lives he touched.

Mr. Jones is preceded in death by his previous wife, Doris Jones; parents, O. B. and Annie Mae Jones; grandson, Adam Burns; and sister, Doris Byrd.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Elmore Jones of Richton; nine children, Tommy (Callie) Jones of Kentucky, Deana (Gregory) Burns of Waynesboro, David (Thresia) Love of Sandhill, Donna Mills of Petal, Eric (Eva) Love of Arizona City, AR, David (Melody) Mills of Fairhope, AL, Wade (Theta) Love of Atoka, TN, Denise (Jeff) Bell of Latimer, MS, and Dedra (Chris) Perry of Richton; 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The family invites friends and loved ones to join them in honoring and celebrating the life of James Edward Jones.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. Friday at Piave Baptist Church.
