Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at County Line Missionary Baptist Church of Ellisville for Mr. James A. "JA" Sharplin, age 97, of Ellisville. Mr. Sharplin went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 9, 2025, at Ochsner Scott Regional in Morton, MS. Bro. Steve Ellis, Bro. Blake Ellis and Bro. Steven Webb will officiate with the burial to follow in the County Line Cemetery of Ellisville. Serving as pallbearers will be K.J. Stormant, Andy Stormant, Jeffrey Stormant, Nick Denton, Bradley Denton and Shane Thompson.

James "JA" was preceded in death by his parents, Jeff and Elizabeth (Lizzie Carr) Sharplin; a loving wife of 63 years, Sally Sharplin; siblings, Lester Sharplin, Edward Sharplin, Javis Sharplin, Jerrell Sharplin, Samuel Sharplin, Magdalene Baggett, Erma Hilton, Ann Cedatol, Hilda Mae Myers and son-in-law, Keith Stormant.

He is survived by one sister, Betty Thompson of Pearl, MS and one brother, Purvis (Linda) Sharplin of Mendenhall, MS; son, Michael (Shelia) Sharplin of Morton, MS; daughter, Janet Stormant of White Springs, FL; grandchildren, Jennifer Williams, K.J. Stormant (Mary Ann), Andy Stormant (Nenah), Jeffrey Stormant, Nick Denton (Nicole), Nikole (Daniel) Hilson and Nathan Denton; great-grandchildren, Christian Dedmond, Shelley Stormant Presley, Elliot and Elise Stormant, Bradley and Anna Kate Denton and Ella Hilson and great-great grandchildren, Peyton Dedmon, Aaron and Asher Presley.

J. A. was a Charter member of Plain Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Richland, MS. He was a faithful member of Plain Landmark Church and County Line Missionary Baptist Church in Jones County.

He was blessed with the gift of mechanics. J. A. worked at the Chevrolet mechanic shop in Morton, MS for many years. After leaving the Morton area, he and Mike delivered general freight with S&S. In the early 90's J.A. was hired as the very first employee at Deep South in Seminary, MS. He worked there until the age of 80 years old. The employees loved him and addressed him as "Uncle Jay".

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2025, at Jones and Son Funeral Home in Moselle.
