Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2025, in the Jones and Son Chapel of Moselle for Mrs. Helon Shoemake Townsend, age 99, of Moselle. Mrs. Townsend passed away on October 8, 2025, at her residence. Elder Mark Quarles and Elder David Crawford will officiate with the burial to follow in the Moselle Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Shelby L. Townsend, Richard D. Townsend, Kenneth Townsend, Jacob R. Townsend, Jason M. Townsend, Mark Denny and Aiden Parker Townsend.

Helon was a member of Primitive Baptist Church in Stringer, MS. Her husband was a World War II veteran. They traveled the world, lived in Japan and rode a ship across the Pacific Ocean with her children. She worked as a supervisor for housekeeping at the University of Southern Mississippi. She survived a tornado that destroyed her home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Shelby C. Townsend; parents, Hib and Lora Shoemake and daughter, Shirley M. Hollingsworth.

She is survived by her sons, Bobby R. (Faye) Townsend of Moselle and Michael (Cindy) Townsend of Santa Rosa Beach, FL and daughter, Jane Elizabeth Bicocchi of Purvis and 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren

Visitation will be 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Jones and Son Funeral Home of Moselle.
