Services for Mrs. Ginger Merle Walley of Richton, Mississippi will be held at First Baptist Church of Richton at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 2, 2026. Ginger went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at the age of 89.  Bro. Josh Dunn will officiate the service and burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Spencer Barnes, Brandon Crumbley, Collin Crumbley, Hunter Phillips, Tyler Phillips, and John Walley.  Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Billy Broome, Wayne Byrd, Evan Craft, Rod Smith, and Marsus Sullivan.

Ginger graduated from Sand Hill High School and attended Jones Junior College. She married James M. Phillips in 1955 and the two traveled abroad and in the States with the Air Force before settling with the family in Richton in 1972. For 28 years Ginger was the secretary for the Richton School District. Later in life after James' passing, she married Pettis D. Walley and the two traveled and enjoyed attending USM football games.

Ginger was an active member of First Baptist Church for over 50 years, serving on the Fellowship and various other committees. She was the first church hostess after the completion of the Family Life Center. One of her favorite areas of service was with the Woman's Missionary Union (WMU). She had a heart to better her community by being an active member with the Richton Woman's Club and treasurer of the Richton Home and Garden Club. her passions included traveling, reading, entertaining, and she had an immense love for cooking and preparing meals for friends and family. She had a servant's heart.  Ginger lived a full life and will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her and crossed her path.

Ginger was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Myrtle Walley; sisters, Patsy and Beverly Walley; brothers, Thomas Earl, Douglas, and Johnnie Walley; and husbands, James M. Phillips and Pettis D. Walley.

She is survived by her children, Regina Phillips Crumbley and James "Jim" Phillips (Connie); grandchildren, Brandon, Collin, and Quinn Crumbley, Tyler Phillips, Brittani (Spencer) Barnes, Hunter (Sophie) Phillips; great grandchildren, Kadyn, Emma Kate, and Caroline Barnes; Avary and Greyson Crumbley, Amelia and Preston Phillips.; sisters Betty (Harold) Heathcock and Sheryl (Frank) Smith; and many nieces and nephews.
