Services honoring the life of Mrs. Gertrude B. Broome, age 87, of Richton, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Richton.  Interment will follow in the Sunset Cemetery.

She retired as Vice President of Richton Bank and Trust Company after 40 years of devoted service. A faithful and dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Richton, she was known for her unwavering faith, warm spirit, and deep love for her community. She was also a proud member of the Richton Garden Club, the Red Hat Society, and the Bunko Club — groups through which she built lifelong friendships and shared many joyful moments. Above all, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend. Her legacy of kindness, strength, and generosity will be carried on by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her daughter in law, Leslie B. Broome; her parents, Auten and Lois Batte, and her sisters, Doris Touchstone and Helen Landrum.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Billy S. Broome; her son, Joey Broome of Richton; her daughter, Beverly Temple of Hattiesburg; her grandchildren, Lauren (Kyle) Slaven of Sulpher, LA, Carly Verrett of Gulfport, Caitlin Parden of Hattiesburg, and Austin (Kayla) Parden of Tuscaloosa, AL; 8 great grandchildren, and an untold number of friends and other relatives.

Visitation for Mrs. Broome will be held from 5:30 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Jones and Son Funeral Home in Richton and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.
