Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at Jones and Son Chapel for Mr. Gaines Ellis Edwards, Sr., age 90, of Richton.  Mr. Edwards passed from this life on December 4, 2022 at Asbury Hospice House.  Bro. Sammy Odom will officiate the service with burial to follow in Edwards Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Alex Bennett, Jonathan Edwards, Shawn Wiseman, Joshua Edwards, Ray Edwards, and Andy Bennett.

Mr. Edwards worked for the U.S. Civil Service as a telecommunications specialist for 32 years at Keesler Air Force Base.  He loved fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family.  He was a member of Unity Primative Baptist Church in Escatawpa.

Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Scenic Edwards; and siblings, Lynn Edwards, Curt Edwards, Herbert Ray Edwards, Lib Edwards, Essie Hinton, Bessie Ishee, Evelyn Odom, Edna May Estis, Lillian Hillman, Susan Edwards, and Rueben Edwards.

He is survived by his children Gaines E. (Martha) Edwards, Jr. of Saucier, Theresa (David) Hicks of Gautier, and Jan R. (Shawn) Wiseman of Richton; grandchildren, Andrew Bennett, Alex Bennett, Jonathan Edwards, Shawn Wiseman, Jr., Joshua Edwards, and Brycie Wiseman; great grandchildren, Kendal Bennett, Emily Edwards, Elizabeth Edwards, Miles Bennett, Luke Edwards, Carter Edwards, Parker Bennett, and Alexa Bennett; and a host of nieces and nephews.
