Coach Gaines Breland, a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and revered mentor, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2025 at the age of 75.

Gaines was more than a coach; he was a guiding light to countless athletes and students, instilling values of perseverance, integrity, and teamwork.

He is survived by his daughter, grandchildren, and a large extended family who will forever cherish his memory. May we honor his life by carrying forward the lessons he taught us and the love he so freely gave.

In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Jones and son Funeral Home to be donated to McLain Attendance Center to establish the "Gaines Breland Award." This award will be presented annually to an outstanding athlete during the 8th grade graduation ceremony in his memory. Gaines' love for sports teamwork and his school community will live on through this award honoring students who demonstrate the same dedication, spirit, and heart that he showed every day

A celebration of life service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at Jones and Son Funeral Home in Richton.  Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. prior to the service.
