Services will be held for Mrs. Doris (Humphries) Walters, age 93, of Ellisville (formerly of Moselle) at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2024, in the Jones and Son Chapel of Moselle. Mrs. Walters passed away peacefully Thursday, March 14, 2024, at the Jones County Rest Home. Bro. Rodney Smith and Chaplain Jessica Ruby will officiate with burial to follow in the Providence Cemetery of Hattiesburg.

Doris was born to Perry and Plura Belle (Wright) Humphries in 1930 in Jones County, MS. She was united in marriage to M.V. "Cotton" Walters in 1951. After several moves in their early marriage, they settled in Pascagoula, MS to raise their family. After Cotton retired, they moved to Moselle, MS and enjoyed living close to their family and friends.

She was a lifelong homemaker. She loved being outdoors working in her many flower gardens over the years. She was active in her church with many times providing fresh flowers on Sunday to the Moselle United Methodist Church. Her hands were never idle, always working on a stitching project, hooking rugs, or weaving pine straw baskets to name a few. In the last few years, she donated several hundred loomed hats to different charities and to the local hospitals for their cancer ward patients, as well as family members and friends.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Cotton Walters; parents; brothers, Johnnie, Woodruff and Hubert Humphries; sisters, Evie Campbell, Chellie Boone and Mamie Lou Humphries and daughter-in-law, Ann Walters.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Mitch Walters of Pascagoula, MS; Perry (Gladys) Walters of Moselle, MS and Myra (Roger) Ruby of Ankeny, Iowa; grandchildren, Brice, Brock, Bobby and Bo Walters, Jessica and Jared Ruby; 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Jones and Son Funeral Home in Moselle.
