Services for Mr. David "Lightning" Shows, age 74, of Richton, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 20, 2026 at Bethel Freewill Baptist Church.  Mr. Shows passed from this life on August 17, 2026 in Hattiesburg.  Bro. Ronald Nowell and Bro. Greg Hodge will officiate the service and burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers will be Greg Shows, Phillip Shows, Heath Shows, Scott Shows, Jeremy Shows, and Trevor Cooley.  Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Palmer, Charlie Knight, Terry Robinson, and Preston Guinn.

Mr. Shows dedicated 30 years of his life to working in civil labor at Camp Shelby. Outside of work, he found great joy in the simple things in life. He loved being outdoors, hunting, and running his dogs. Gardening was another passion of his, and he continued to tend to his garden for as long as he was able. Most of all, he treasured his family. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and watching his family grow. Though he is no longer with them, the memories Mr. Shows made with his family will live on in their hearts and his dedication to his family, and the time he shared with those he loved will be remembered and cherished for generations to come.

Mr. Shows was preceded in death by his son, Curtis Shows; parents, J.B. "Pete" and Retha Shows; and brothers, Albert Gerald Shows, Benny Jean Shows, and Bobby Ray Shows.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Louise Shows; children, Catrena (Coby) Freeman of Richton and Steven (Marie) Jerrell of Laurel; grandchildren, Ivory Freeman, Cameron Freeman, Aubrey Freeman, Ella Cooley, James Jerrell, William Jerrell, Tasha Parker, Kaitlin Jerrell, and Jack Jerrell; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Linda Bramblett of Hattiesburg and Norma Dianne Kitchens of New Augusta; brothers, Allen Carl Shows and Marvin Kennard Shows, both of Richton; and a host of extended family members and friends.
