Clarence Moore Shannon, age 87, passed from this life on June 7, 2024 at Alden Pointe Assisted Living where he had resided for a number of years.  Mr. Shannon was a native of Richton, Mississippi and was a member of Richton United Methodist Church.

In his early career, Mr. Shannon worked in Kentucky and taught school in Germany, at which time he traveled to many countries.  Through the years, Mr. Shannon sponsored and cared for children in Kentucky, Germany and Vietnam.  Upon returning to Richton, he worked as a tax adviser and consultant until his retirement.  After retirement, he traveled on mission trips to Bolivia where he again sponsored and cared for many children and their families.  His greatest joy in life was working with his church, traveling on mission trips, caring for children and families in need, and giving back to a number of worthwhile charitable organizations.

Mr. Shannon was preceded in death by his parents, Sydney Edward Shannon and Mattie Virginia Shannon; sisters, Lillian Katherine Hopkins and Evelyn Annette Dykes; brothers, Sydney Edward Shannon, Jr., Floyd Vernon Shannon, Sr., William Fredrick Shannon, and Charles H. Shannon.

Mr. Shannon is survived by nieces, Anita Louise Brady, Martha Elizabeth Harper, Martha Gause, Victoria Shannon Johnson, Evelyn Shannon Wilson, Mary Ann Griffith; nephew, Floyd Vernon Shannon, Jr.; and several great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at Richton United Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m.
