Antioch Cemetery

Christopher Lynn Parnell, known as "Scar" in high school and later as "Earl," passed away peacefully at home in Leakesville, Mississippi, on August 25, 2026, after a brief battle with cancer. He was 52 and surrounded by his loving wife, children, family , and friends.

Born in Lucedale and raised in Leakesville, Chris graduated from Greene County High School. He later worked offshore, eventually becoming a boat captain and spending almost 34 years on the water.

Chris was known for his big personality, humor, love of singing and dancing, and talent for making people laugh. He enjoyed pool and guitar, but treasured family most. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather, affectionately known as PopPop by his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lewis "Bud" E. Parnell Sr. and Nadine (Brannon) Parnell; his father, Lewis E. Parnell Jr.; and his maternal grandparents, Robert Floyd Harrison and Bertha Lee Harrison.

He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Brandy Necole (Holder) Parnell; son, David (Chancie) Miller; daughter, Veronica Miller; mother, Joyce Faye (Harrison) Parnell; brother, Edward (Beth) Parnell; sister, Angela (John) Havens; and a very special brother-in-law and friend, Joey Rushing.  He also leaves behind grandchildren Kaylee Smith, Gauge Brewer, Lawson Miller, Andy Miller, and Heartlee Davis; great-grandson Kagan Sykes; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, including Kimberly Reeves, his beloved "Rugrat."

Chris will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort knowing he is no longer in pain and rests peacefully in the arms of Jesus.

Until we meet again, Chris. You will always be loved and remembered.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday September 11, 2026 at Antioch Cemetery in Leakesville.
